Check In Agents - Gatwick Airport South Terminal

Aviation Recruitment Experts Optime are searching for an experienced Check-In Agent to join a respected and successful team at South Terminal, Gatwick Airport for the upcoming summer season.

What's on offer:

• Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour
• Shift Pattern: 4 on 2 off or 6 on 3 off
• Hours per week: 20 or 30 hours per week
• Shift Timing: Example times below
• Weekly Pay (every Friday)
• Temp to Perm (performance-based)

Key Duties:

• Assist passengers with checking in their luggage using self-service machines and traditional check-in desks, processing documentation ahead of their travels
• Work on your feet for extended periods of time
• Perform front-of-house customer service tasks to ensure a smooth and seamless passenger journey through Gatwick’s South Terminal
• Greet passengers upon arrival and assist with any queries, disruptions, and issue resolutions
• Verify passengers’ travel documents (passports, boarding passes) to confirm identity and eligibility for travel
• Collect applicable fees for checked luggage, excess baggage, or other services and process payments via POS systems
• Manage and organise passenger queues to ensure an efficient check-in process, particularly during peak travel times
• Respond calmly and professionally to emergency situations such as flight delays, cancellations, or disruptions, providing updated information and solutions
• Uphold airline standards, company values, and ensure high levels of personal presentation and punctuality
• Opportunities to upskill and complete airside boarding training
• Full training provided (10 days classroom-based training, 2 weeks on-the-job training)

The airport is operational 7 days per week, and candidates will work on a 4 on 2 off or 6 on 3 off rolling rota, which could be subject to change.

Example shift hours:

4 on 2 off rolling:

• Earliest start time: 03:00am
• Latest finish time: 23:30pm
• Average of 5 to 8-hour shifts per day.

6 on 3 off rolling:

• Earliest start time: 03:00am
• Latest finish time: 23:30pm
• Average of 5 to 8-hour shifts per day.

Requirements:

• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be flexible across all start and finish times.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Five-year fully checkable reference history.
• Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC).
