Mathematics Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship

We are seeking an individual to train to become a maths teacher over the course of the next academic year (commencing September 2025).

The postgraduate teaching apprenticeship is an initial teacher training (ITT) route, combining paid work with study, based at the Mid Somerset Consortium in Street, Somerset. You’ll receive practical, school-led training alongside experienced staff and spend one day per week off-timetable to learn the pedagogy of teaching.

The key features are as follows:

• You will be based at The Blue School for the majority of the year.
• You will undertake a second school placement of 4 weeks in the spring term.
• Every Tuesday, you will attend professional training based at the Mid Somerset Consortium in Street, Somerset.
• You will be paid on the unqualified teachers’ pay scale (UQ3, currently £26,715 pa).
• Successful completion will lead to qualified teacher status (QTS).
• Successful completion is likely to lead to a permanent teaching position at the school.

Suitable candidates will:

• Hold a degree awarded by a UK higher education provider, or a recognised equivalent qualification
• Hold at least an A level (or equivalent) in maths or a closely related subject.
• Be interested in pursuing a career in secondary teaching.
• Have at least two terms' experience of working in a school.
