Purpose of the position

Reporting directly to the Electrical Production Manager, the Electrical Supervisor is responsible for the SQCDP (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) of their allocated area of responsibility. Responsible for the management of a number of team leaders that will support the supervisor to achieve all key milestones and KPI's.

The Electrical Supervisor shall provide leadership to the team and support team leaders in coordinating workloads, providing support, monitoring issues, and ensuring consistent quality standards are maintained whilst fostering a safe working culture.

Accountability

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Electrical Production Manager, the key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Adherence to project schedules and key delivery milestones.
  • Adherence to allocated project budgets.
  • Control of all technical documentation within the production environment.
  • Leading production meetings with key internal stakeholders.
  • Working with the planning department to maintain delivery targets
  • Supporting the Electrical Production Manager in conducting interviews as required.
  • Promoting a safe working environment by delivering safety coaching conversations, reporting accidents, performing root cause analyses and implementation of preventative actions.
  • Ensuring full adherence to 5S practices.
  • Ensuring all local policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Build a relationship with team based on mutual trust; keep commitments and promises
  • Willingly delegate tasks giving clear instructions; ensure the team are clear on their responsibilities
  • Encourage others to come up with ideas and provide support even when not successful; learn from successes and failures
  • Actively support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a facilitator to provide positive leadership when facing business challenges

Tasks:

  • Supporting Electrical Production Manager to actively make sure all work is approached in a consistent way across all projects
  • Be the first point of contact for queries and work with Qualified Supervisor and Electrical Duty Holder to make sure we are compliant
  • Managing time and attendance issues and approving holiday and overtime in line with company policy, whilst ensuring that all business milestones and KPI's are maintained.
  • Day-to-day management of team leaders within assigned project team.
  • Oversea and ensure accurate completion of build documentation
  • Liaison with Design department to ensure the resolution of technical issues whilst ensuring any design change is embodied in accordance with internal change management process.
  • Supporting the planning department with the configuration of production BoMs, development of work instructions and definition of component condition of supply.
  • Leading SQCDP level 2 meetings and escalating issues to the responsible Production Manager as appropriate.
  • Delivering flow downs/team briefs.
  • Responding to inspection reports to ensure timely resolution to issues/defects identified on the product.
  • Conducting appraisals/PDRs in line with BMS processes.
  • Supporting DFMEA reviews to identify opportunities to optimise the design for manufacture

Technical Competencies:

  • Expertise in Electrical processes and techniques.
  • Understanding of Production methods and processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and associated design data.
  • Competent written and verbal skills.
  • IT skills i.e. Word, Excel and MRP & Microsoft Projects.
  • Management Skills and ability to communicate and lead an individual or team.
  • Identify the root cause of a problem within their remit and the possible solutions; Recognise similarities in patterns or data
  • Make clear and thought-through day to day decisions within own remit promptly without seeking constant approval

Education:

  • Qualification in BS7671 17th/18th edition Requirements for Electrical Installations
  • City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Electrical

Desirable:

  • IOSH Managing safely certification is preferable however training could be provided.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • City & Guilds 2365 Level 2/3 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Building & Structures, or equivalent electrical qualification).

Experience:

  • Understand and competent in planning methods and skills.
  • Experience of leading a team, including team leaders
Additional local needs
  • This role is required to be based on-site full time
  • There may be occasional travel
  • There may a need for flexibility to meet the needs of the projects as required
