Looking for an exciting role as an Occupational Therapist!
We are the Enfield Rapid Access Service. Our team comprises of therapists, nurses and support staff. Our aim is Urgent Care Response – hospital avoidance, and facilitated discharge. The role is community based, and you will visit patients in their homes.
We offer supervision, in-service training and a range of training opportunities within the Trust.
Our base is located near Enfield Town, with easy commuter links from central London/Hertfordshire and proximity to M25.
A car driver is essential for this role.
Hiya Cars are available to book for use for home visits, alternatively you can use own car.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties- To work collaboratively with Primary care, Acute Services, Allied Health Professionals, Social Services, families /carers, and users of the service.
- To manage own caseload in terms of time management, resources, and clinical practice for the duration of the Intermediate care intervention.
- To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations using a high level of clinical reasoning and assessment techniques and effectively and efficiently plan and deliver rehabilitation care programmes to patients admitted to the service.
- To work closely within the inter-professional team to promote independence and avoid unnecessary admission and to promote early discharge from the acute beds.
- To offer support, guidance, advice and teaching to patients/relatives and other carers as necessary.
- To participate in monitoring the effectiveness of the service and making recommendations about future needs.

Essential criteria- Car owner/driver with valid UK driving license
- Car available for work purposes
Education and qualifications
Essential criteria- Diploma/Degree in occupational therapy
- Evidence of ongoing CPD in portfolio
- Attendance at relevant post-Graduate Courses
- Member of relevant CIG
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria- Ability to prioritise, organise and work in a busy environment.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of clinical reasoning.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Good communication skills, able to present information (written and oral) in a clear and logical manner.
- Able to deal with difficult situations, eg dealing with aggressive and/or emotional patients or carers.
- Good presentation skills.
Experience
Essential criteria- Minimum of 18 months post graduate experience.
- Broad post graduate experience with significant component in relevant area
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience as Occupational Therapist in NHS or social services
- Supervision of students or occupational therapy assistants.
- Experience of working in a community setting.
- Participation in Project /audit activities.
Personal qualities/ Knowledge / Awareness / Understanding
Essential criteria- A good working knowledge of the NHS systems of care and awareness of current NHS policies and issues which impact on the profession.
- Awareness of own knowledge and development needs.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of clinical governance in relation to occupational therapy and ability to apply principles to own area.
- Awareness of current professional and NHS issues.
