Program Manager, Middle Mile Engineering Programs (MMEP) Planning - London

The MMEP team (Middle Mile Engineering Program) is seeking an experienced program manager to join the team to support the middle mile logistics network in Europe and UK. Our program managers are key players in delivering end-to-end solutions to our logistics network, thinking about the bigger picture, influencing key business decisions and pioneering new ways of thinking.

In this role you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the organization, scoping new solutions and making a big impact on some of the most exciting ideas that are shaping the future of Amazon.

This is an exciting time to join our Middle Mile Engineering Program Planning team. As a program manager the candidate will lead and support in the creation and planning of Amazon's short term and long term strategies across EU and UK. They work on work in generating and implementing ideas for capacity expansion or infrastructure investments.
The PM provides the structure to plan and put into motion 1 to 3 year Amazon middle mile expansion plans. These inter-year projects include, but not limited to, real estate developments, leases, capacity expansions, design requirements, launches, and retrofits.

The planning office enables decisions / Problem solving through creation of business cases, financial assessments, estimates, and timelines; providing clear recommendations and next steps to optimize ATS SC network. When required, the PM will also use strong project and stakeholder management experience to drive complex project completion.

Key job responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Analysis
  • Lead development of business cases for investments and major facility upgrades
  • Create and implement control systems for monitoring sort center capacity changes
  • Develop change management mechanisms to track capacity adjustments and provide time-sensitive updates to operational planning teams
  • Conduct data-driven capacity assessments through site visits (30% travel) and operational analysis
Project and Stakeholder Management
  • Oversee large-scale projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget
  • Monitor program portfolio progress, track milestones, and manage risks
  • Coordinate with 10+ cross-functional teams including Real Estate, network planning, Engineering, Operations, and Finance
  • Align multiple teams on capacity and Demand validations and site assessments
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at various management levels
Process Improvement
  • Establish benchmarks and performance metrics across sort centers
  • Develop best practices and standardized tools

A day in the life

As a program manager, you will need continuous alignment and understanding of the network long term demands, available engineering solutions, financial assessments and comparison between different potential solutions to one problem. The PM not only coordinates, but understands and provides guidance to the teams on solutions and ideas.

The PM has high ownership. They provide directive actions on where to focus as it they have the long term and bigger picture as a goal. When needed the PM will actively direct teams during execution, manage escalations, approvals and dive deep into financial, network demand, procurement, operations, engineering or real estate topics.

We're at the forefront of developing solutions that will shape the future of Amazon's middle mile logistics.- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, operations, logistics, or related field.
  • Experience in logistics operations, capacity management, supply chain, or engineering
  • Experience in managing, implementing and delivering cross functional initiatives across teams and organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and present data-driven insights to various audiences
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
  • Excellent multitasking abilities with a history of managing concurrent projects effectively
  • Proven experience delivering results under tight deadlines
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in Program/Project/change Management implementation and reporting mechanisms/tools (Excel, Project, MS software).
  • English proficiency - Master’s degree/MBA in business, operations, logistics, supply chain, or related field
  • Experience in management within the Transport, Distribution or Logistics industry would be highly desirable
  • PMP or other project management certification
  • Proficiency with MS Project
  • SQL knowledge for query creation and data handling
  • French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
