Cove Ward is a 15 bed acute Older Persons mental health unit, treating functional mental health conditions in a supportive and therapeutic environment. This is an exciting and emerging specialty where we treat patients who present with functional mental health issues and are clinically frail, with a variety of complex physical comorbidities.

Cove Ward is developing innovative and quality improvement programmes, to provide high quality patient centred care. We are currently on our journey to obtain national accreditation and the post holder, will have the opportunity to partake in quality improvement programmes in addition to their clinical care delivery.

Given the nature of our clinical work, we are accepting applicants who are either RMN/RNLD/RGN registered. We also welcoming applicants from students who are due to qualify in the coming months.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and may be required to teach other nursing and non-nursing staff.
  • To provide designated named nurse responsibility for a number of patients.
  • To provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff both qualified and unqualified in the absence of the Clinical Team Leader and Unit Manager during the course of the normal shift pattern, and to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources available to deliver a high standard of quality care to service users.
