Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated dietitian to provide specialist community focused dietetic services to the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board population.
This post sits within the Community Dietetic Team based across two sites at Glanrhyd Hospital, Bridgend and Ysbyty Cwm Cynon Hospital, Mountain Ash.
The community team work closely across all sites alongside the wider multidisciplinary team, working towards a standard approach across the health board for community services. You will be a member of the wider multidisciplinary team which will include community medical, nursing, therapy staff, social services and other colleagues and agencies both within the hospitals and the community.
The department fully encourages continuing professional development with protected sessions in job plans, we actively support staff to participate and share learning opportunities and experiences. We actively encourage regular supervision at all bands and regular personal development reviews to optimise job satisfaction.
Informal discussions around clinical interests and flexible working or hours available via telephone or video are welcomed.
Main duties of the job
The post will have a mixed caseload made up of community visits to patient’s own homes and care homes, outpatient clinics and virtual appointments/ group sessions consisting of patient with oral and enteral feeding needs. You will also be responsible for leading on service development and quality improvement projects whilst also supporting junior staff and dietetic students.
Key responsibilities:
- To assess, plan, evaluate and implement Dietetic interventions in specialist outpatient clinics, community care settings; including community visits and education sessions at community facilities.
- To implement aspects of the treatment plan with autonomy, taking sole responsibility for the patient’s safety when undertaking community work.
- To work in partnership with other members of the multidisciplinary team
- To maintain clinical records in accordance with legal requirements and professional standards.
- To develop skills and knowledge through continued personal and professional development.
- Demonstrates at all times, personal behaviour congruent with professional status.
- To promote and represent the Department and Organisation both internally and externally to the organisation and provide colleagues with professional advice and opinion in a professional manner.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria- BSc. Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent Dietetic Degree/Qualification with state registration
- Evidence of postgraduate study to Diploma level or relevant CPD in specialist clinical area
- Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
- Clinical Supervisory Skills Training.
- Behavior modification training or motivational interviewing training and or skills.
Experience
Essential criteria- Postgraduate clinical experience, including this area of specialty.
- Experience of presenting to groups and delivering Group Education.
- Experience of managing outpatient clinics
- Experience of Multi-disciplinary working
