An established not for profit organisation is seeking to hire a Legal Counsel professional, focusing on agricultural tenancy matters. This role is ideal for a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales who is passionate about contributing to the agricultural sector.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide one-to-one advice to members on agricultural tenancies, and Farm Business Tenancies.
- Develop expertise in related legal areas with support and training and advise members accordingly.
- Create and maintain guidance notes, blogs, and articles for our in-house magazine, ensuring all materials are up-to-date and relevant.
- Speak at member events and contribute to the broader educational goals of the organisation.
- Engage in policy development and promotion concerning agricultural property issues, influencing policy direction and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Policy & Advice team to gather evidence and shape our policy positions based on member feedback and legal caseload.
- Represent the organisation in consultations, briefings, and meetings with stakeholders including civil servants, MPs, and Ministers.
- Provide secretariat services to the Legal Parliamentary and Property Rights National Committee, including preparing agendas, organising minutes, and managing action points for meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must hold a professional legal qualification in England and Wales.
- Some background in agricultural property law, ideally with the Agricultural Holdings Act tenancies and Farm Business Tenancies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear and effective advice.
- Some interest in policy development and a keen interest in influencing governmental policy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
