VMware VCF and NSX Infrastructure Systems Engineer required to work within a Government Organisation. This is an initial 6 month contract, paying £530 a day, outside IR35, hybrid working.

Job Description:

The VMware VCF and NSX Infrastructure Systems Engineer shall have strong expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX, AVI Load Balancer, Horizon and Aria suite to manage, develop, and optimise our on premise cloud and network architecture.

The ideal candidate will work closely with our requirements, architecture and assurance teams to ensure the system's scalability, security, and reliability, aligning with business requirements.

Additionally, they will be responsible for development and provision of accurate and timely documentation, reports and how-to guides, and will provide appropriate level of reporting to both Internal and External Stakeholders to inform on progress, maturity and success.

The VMware VCF and NSX Infrastructure Systems Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and maintain network solutions using NSX, AVI/NSXALB, and to support hyper-converged infrastructure environments.
  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX and AVI Load balancer
  • Lead the deployment and configuration of NSX components, including logical networking, distributed firewall, load balancer, services, to enable network virtualisation and micro-segmentation
  • Develop and implement network virtualization solutions to enhance system performance and security.
  • Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization for VCF and NSX environments.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting and automation tools to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and security protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to support teams as needed.
  • Develop and test tooling and patterns to address any security and resiliency gaps
  • Create and maintain technical design and systems support documentation
  • Remain up to date with the latest security systems, standards, authentication protocols, and products.
Essential Expertise and Qualifications
  • Experience of VMware Cloud Foundation running on Dell VxRails.
  • Advanced experience of VMware NSX-T.
  • In Depth knowledge of AVI Load Balancer.
  • In Depth knowledge of Aria suite.
  • Strong knowledge of network virtualization, SDN, and related technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and techniques (e.g. Github, Python, PowerShell ,PowerCLI)
  • Understanding of hybrid cloud architectures including virtualised architectures, Horizon VDI and AppVolumes.
  • Knowledge of firewall and network security principles.
  • Understanding the principles of zero trust architecture
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Good experience of CI/CD pipelines and path to live processes.
  • Design, build, testing installation and commissioning of resistant secure architecture above UK OFFICIAL classification
  • Experience with creating technical and security designs and documentation
  • Experience of delivery within a technical axis utilising both Agile and stage-gated Waterfall project delivery assurance methodologies.
Desirable Expertise and Qualifications
  • VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VCIX in NSX or vCF.
