2nd Line Support Technician, Oxfordshire to £32K

A leading Managed Services Provider based on the outskirts of Oxford (near Kidlington) is looking to recruit a 2nd Line IT Support Technician to work in their client’s stunning rural office location. As part of a team of dedicated technicians, you’ll be providing 2ndLine Support to over 1000-1250 users covering cutting edge hardware, software and infrastructure technologies.

The role:

The 2nd Line IT Support Technician will provide support to a diverse group of onsite and off-site users. You will be part of a team based at our client’s stunning location, a barn conversation in the Countryside, with some occasional travel to other client sites.
You will troubleshoot desktop, telephony, network, and printing errors, investigate software issues, and carry out daily checks. You will also ensure that the computers you are responsible for are complaint with Cyber Essential Plus whilst also following ISO 27001 policies.

You will support and install hardware, software, and mobile devices, and have the opportunity to administer servers and gain insight into infrastructure-based technology.

About you:

The successful 2nd Line IT Support Technician will need to be self-motivated, conscientious, methodical and organised, with the ability to liaise with clients at all levels of a business whilst demonstrating excellent customer service at all times.

You’ll possess a logical approach to problem solving and will already be experienced in a similar role.

Essential skills:

  • Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role
  • Fantastic user management soft skills
  • Windows 10, MS Server 2019/2022, MS Office 365
  • Active Directory/Entra ID & Group Policy administration
  • IP networking & telephony, DNS, DHCP
  • Server, network and desktop hardware.

Desirable skills:

  • SCCM
  • Mobile device support
  • Sophos AV & Encryption administration
  • Arcserve Backup Solutions
  • Intune
  • Windows 11
  • Splashtop or other remote-control software

Desirable qualifications:

Any of the following: ITIL Foundation, Microsoft certifications, CompTIA A+
