Senior Business Manager to Managing Director

The Trust is looking for a confident and highly capable Senior Business Manager to lead the office of the Managing Director of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation.
The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, providing high quality business management, project management and briefing advice and support to the Managing Director, helping the Trust to deliver outstanding care for our patients, and driving forward our strategic ambitions.
You will work with a wide range of local and national stakeholders, including local MPs, local authorities, NHS England and Improvement, the CQC and others to help deliver our priorities. Political astuteness and the ability to get to grips quickly and effectively with a complex stakeholder landscape is key.So too is organisational ability and the ability to work at pace, and with senior internal and external stakeholders. You'll be a key figure in coordinating work across the Managing Director and wider Executive Team. You'll have exceptional organisational skills, be able to drive forward the agenda and priorities of the Managing Director, whilst being able to multi-task and deliver at pace.
This is a challenging and varied post and it is important that you can operate independently and effectively in all situations, with the ability to prioritise appropriately.
Main duties of the job- Provide high quality and proactive business management support to the Managing Director to ensure they can fulfil their functions, to lead the hospital effectively, ensuring that their office runs smoothly, efficiently and with appropriate cover at all times.
- Provide direct and personal support to the Managing Director, problem solving and troubleshooting according to need to ensure that they can be effective in the full range of their roles and responsibilities.
- Work across and liaise with members of the Executive team, Trust level senior managers and other senior staff as appropriate, on behalf of the Managing Director to disseminate, follow up on and progress actions, keeping track of all actions on their behalf, and working to unblock and resolve key issues.
- Identify and prioritise incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Managing Director, including those of a sensitive and confidential nature, determining the appropriate course of action, referral or response.
- Ensure that the Managing Director’s time is used and prioritised effectively which will involve developing a deep and nuanced insight into their priorities, the key internal and external stakeholders, and developing a thorough understanding of the rhythm and importance of core meetings and business.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria- Management qualification to Masters level or experience in a senior support role alongside Board and Executive Directors
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria- Substantial experience of working as a Business Manager, Private Secretary to a Managing Director or equivalent
- Experience of working in a large and complex organisation in a similar role
- Preparation and experience of report and high level briefings for internal and external audiences
- Experience of planning and organising complex meetings and events
- Ability to manage a range of projects
- Experience of line managing staff
- Experience of taking accurate minutes and action of Senior level meetings
- Experience of managing and resolving complex and sensitive staff issues with the utmost discretion
- Experience of working in the NHS and understanding of the key issues facing the health services
