Senior Finance Assistant
  • Job Type: Full-time, 6-Month Fixed Term Contract
  • Location: Norwich
  • Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
Reed Accountancy and Finance Norwich have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Assistant to join our clients finance operations team. This role involves undertaking general cashiering tasks and assisting in the processing of client and office transactions in accordance with the authority regulations.

Reporting to the Finance Team Leader, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the wider finance team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process account transactions in line with compliance and best practice.
  • Conduct inter-account transfers and assist with Purchase Ledger invoices and payments.
  • Liaise with external clients.
  • Assist the team with various Month End procedures.
  • Input and maintain accurate accounting data on the computing system, observing current procedures for authorisation.
  • Advise colleagues on correct accounting procedures, providing assistance and information to enable them to perform their client work efficiently.
  • Assist in the completion of regular bank reconciliations and the posting of necessary corrections.
  • Respond to queries from clients, banks, and other work-related institutions.
  • Supply information required by auditors and assist them in their audit where necessary.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks delegated by team leaders and managers as appropriate.
  • Suggest and implement ways to improve efficiency within the finance team.
  • Assist with the successful implementation of new systems and working practices on a company-wide basis.
  • Work with other members of the finance team to support billing and credit control functions.
  • Produce reports as required from the accounting system.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar finance role, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels within the organisation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive in suggesting improvements and implementing new systems.
