Gap Technical are excited to be representing a leading food manufacturing business in their search for a Process Technologist to join their team. This role is based at their state-of-the-art facility and is crucial for managing the development and optimization of new and existing product lines.

Performance Objectives

Reporting to the Senior Development Technologist, the Process Technologist will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development of new product lines (NPD) and reformulation projects (EPD). This involves managing factory trials, ensuring products meet required quality and technical standards, and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies. Key responsibilities include:

  • NPD & EPD Management: Lead and manage projects from concept approval to scaled production. This includes overseeing factory trials, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring successful product launches.
  • Rework Program Ownership: Develop and manage rework recipes for non-conforming products, conduct root cause analysis, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Process Optimization: Work closely with Operations to scale processes effectively from kitchen trials to full-scale manufacturing. Optimize production yields, minimize costs, and enhance product performance.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams regarding new products and manufacturing processes. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to product formulation and production.
Person Specification
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in new product development or operational management within a B2B food manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of food processing technologies, ingredient functionality, and product development project management. Familiarity with sensory evaluation, shelf-life testing, and product plant trials is essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with HACCP and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Skills: Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
