About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Development Underwriter to join our team. The Development Underwriter will play a crucial role in processing refurbishment and development finance applications, ensuring compliance with our underwriting standards and lending policies.
This position requires an individual with a proactive mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills.
Day to Day
• Manage a pipeline of development cases for initial completions and subsequent drawdowns, prioritizing effectively.
• Underwrite loan applications within company lending criteria, making quality lending decisions.
• Maintain regular contact with borrowers to identify issues at an early stage and explore future business opportunities.
• Be vigilant when working on cases and refer to appropriate channels when necessary.
• Maintain high levels of communication with stakeholders including brokers, applicants, surveyors, and solicitors.
• Collaborate with other departments within the company, such as sales, compliance, finance, and collections.
What we are looking for
• Strong experience in underwriting development finance loans, preferably including experience with regulated loans.
• Excellent understanding of compliance aspects, including regulatory requirements and principles of treating customers fairly.
• Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to underwriting, balancing risk management with business objectives.
