Job overview

CNTW’s Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies Services (SPT) is known regionally and nationally for its expertise in complex psychological assessment, formulation and treatment, education and training, innovation, and research across a wide range of specialist modalities.

These modalities include complex CBT, Psycho-dynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy and EMDR.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior qualified adult psychotherapist to join our team in the Regional Department of Psychotherapy in the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies. The successful applicant will be a member of our innovative and creative leadership team here, contributing to the strategic development of the service.

We are specifically looking for someone with both individual and group experience and training for this role.

In the Regional Department of Psychotherapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapists, psychodynamic psychotherapists and Group Analysts work together to provide specialist assessments, individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy therapy, group psychotherapy, consultation, reflective practice, education and supervision.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide specialist psychoanalytic/psychodynamic assessment and consultation to adult service users with complex mental health needs
  • Contribute to and lead on aspects of the strategic development and co-ordination of the therapeutic group work program within the service.
  • Continue to develop a group work culture both within the service and wider across the centre for SPTs.
  • Contribute to the triaging of complex referrals to the service, consulting with referrers as appropriate.
  • Provide supervision, advice and consultation to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment in accordance with service needs.
  • Provide scaffolding activity across clinical pathways, including supervision, advice and training
  • Contribute to service evaluation and development
  • As appropriate, supporting and deputising for the Psychotherapy Clinical Lead

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate honours degree in psychology or other mental health subject
  • Post graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and therapy
  • HCPC reg practitioner or equivalent or member of an prof body

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post grad experience
  • Specialist training and min 50hrs clinical supervision over 18m
  • Substantial post qual experience
  • providing specialist psychoanalytic/psychodynamic assessment and consultation to service users with complex mental health
  • substantial experience of providing clinical supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Applying psychological therapies in different cultural contexts
  • Experience of prof management

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Complex methods of assessment, formulation, consultation and advice
  • Contribute to the triaging of complex rereferrals to the service
  • Able to contribute to group work culture
  • Scaffolding
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of legislation
  • Trainer in clinical supervision

Other

  • Teaching and training experience
