Teaching Assistant with SEMH Experience – Immediate Start

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Bootle (L20) area, who are seeking a confident, resilient, and caring Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in Year 1. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey, with the role starting immediately on a full-time basis.
About the Role:
- 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with SEMH needs
- Managing and responding to challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
- Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive engagement in class
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans
- 9am until 3pm, Monday to Friday (term time), ongoing role with the potential for a permanent contract
About You:
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs and managing challenging behaviour
- Strong understanding of strategies to help children regulate emotions and stay engaged
- Confident, patient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to build a trusting relationship and be a positive role model
- Experience in a primary school setting is ideal, particularly in KS1
- Relevant qualifications (such as a Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential for the right experience
