BHOC is the specialist centre for non-surgical treatment for cancer and provide chemotherapy, radiotherapy and haematology services to Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. There are two departments in the centre:

Bristol Cancer Institute covering all oncology services, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and palliative care;

Bristol Haematology Unit covering haematology services for malignant and non-malignant haematology, including the Bristol Bone Marrow Transplant Unit

BHOC provides cancer services to the West of England Strategic Clinical Network with a catchment population of approximately 5.7 million people, and receives about 5,500 new referrals each year. At present the non-surgical oncology service for the network is provided by clinical and medical oncologists.

The centre provides radiotherapy (adult and children), brachytherapy and chemotherapy (adult) services to all the Bristol hospitals. Within the Network treatment services are also provided in Bath and North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire (excluding south Wiltshire).

The BHOC is also the home of the Bristol Haematology Unit providing a full range of treatments (including autologous Bone Marrow Transplant Services), the University of Bristol Palliative Medicine group and a large Clinical Trials Unit. Treatment is provided for both malignant and non-malignant haematology.

The work requires initiative, accuracy and attention to detail. You will be in contact with a broad professional group, as well as members of the public and research Sponsors; you will be expected to represent the Trust well at all times. All work will be carried out in accordance to the EU Directive, ICH-GCP, Research Governance and local Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.

The post holder will be based at and work from the CTU at Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre for the majority of the time, however the post holder may also need to work elsewhere within UH Bristol trust as required. See job description for full details of duties.

To provide data management support for all aspects of cancer clinical trial management within the clinical trials unit.

The data coordinator will be an integral part of the research team. The post holder will be expected to work closely with all members of the clinical trials team to provide trial management secretariat and data handling service. The post holder will be involved in all aspects of data co-ordination, supporting the clinical team throughout the trial process.

Assist with obtaining, processing, packaging and sending of tissue/blood samples forpharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic sampling as appropriate.
