Technician
Property Preservation Technician - Wise Property Care
We are currently recruiting for a Property Preservation technician to join our Scotland branch to help service our customers in and around Edinburgh and the Lothians. The applicant would ideally have joinery experience as our works can include joinery replacements.
Permanent, full-time role
Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm
Basic salary of £24,575 with approx OTE of £30,000 + company van + fuel card
The role of a Technician
As a Technician, you’ll be servicing our customers across Edinburgh and the Lothians in a company van and therefore you need a UK driving licence to become one of our Technicians. Travel further afield may also be required, subject to workload.
What will you be doing?- You will hack-off ceiling/wall plaster, strip and replace timber wall framing and partitions, prior to installing damp proof courses and install cavity drainage membrane to industry standards
- You will be required to carry out timber treatments such as insecticide/fungicide sprays and remedial repairs for dry and wet rot, which include the timber renewal element and chemical treatments.
- Remove and renew timber lintels, including bricking back up
- You will be required to carry out our specialist condensation treatments which may include loft insulation, painting internal/external walls in our specialist coatings and installing thermal wall products.
- There may be an element of patch plastering involved in this role
- You will strip and replace timber floors (including splicing timber floor joists to preservation standards), carry out solum sealing, renew door frames, architraves, windows, sills and doors
- Splicing of roof timbers and specialist timber resin repairs
- Our specialist technicians also carry out basement waterproofing work, and structural defects repairs, such as wall tie installation and crack-stitching
Requirements
We would love you to have:
- Preservation joinery experience
- An apprenticeship background, City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications (not essential)
- Experience working as a Joiner, Carpenter or a Preservation Technician
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence for at least 2 years with no more than 6 penalty points
- A can-do attitude, and able to use your own initiative in tricky situations
- Great communication and customer service skills with a keen, enthusiastic and friendly approach
