Finance Manager (Interim)
Contract: 6 months (Interim)
We are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager to join the Finance Business Partnering Children & Families Team at a local council based in Birmingham. This is an interim role with an initial 6-month contract, offering a competitive day rate of £600 per day.
Given the nature of this role, the ideal candidate must be a fully qualified chartered accountant. While CIPFA qualification is preferred, we will also consider candidates with full membership of other chartered accountancy organisations who have extensive experience at the Finance Manager level within local authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Line managing staff, including providing support, leadership, supervision, staff appraisals, and performance management.
- Delivering budget monitoring, budget setting, and account closing responsibilities within local authorities’ finance teams.
- Supporting and advising finance team members, budget holders, and senior management.
- Completing options appraisals, savings calculations, and monitoring.
- Conducting complex financial analysis to agreed deadlines to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Utilising excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and Oracle for financial information and reporting.
- Fully qualified chartered accountant (preferably CIPFA qualified, but candidates with full membership of other chartered accountancy organisations will be considered).
- Extensive experience at Finance Manager level within local authorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
