We are recruiting multiple Assistant Project Manager – Topic Delivery roles on a permanent basis, and one Assistant Project Manager – Scheduling role on a fixed-term basis until December 2025 to cover a period of maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
The Assistant Project Manager – Topic Delivery (permanent) will support the delivery of timeline and high-quality Technology Appraisals guidance by assisting the Project Manager with managing their Topic Delivery team’s portfolio of technology appraisals. This will include:
- planning and coordinating the delivery of guidance to process, time and quality to ensure that their team delivers around 17 units of work every year in line with the programme’s key performance indicators for timely and high-quality guidance
- Project managing, organising and maintaining reporting systems and timelines for guidance production, review and performance management in relevant work streams
- Oversee, plan and manage all Invitations to Participate (ITPs) within their Topic Delivery team
The Assistant Project Manager – Scheduling (fixed-term) will be responsible for several of these activities, including:
- Working alongside the Project Manager – Scheduling to plan, monitor and maintain the technology appraisal and highly specialised technologies work programmes
- Providing a main point of contact for external stakeholders regarding the scheduling of technology appraisals and highly specialised technologies
- Working alongside the Scheduling and wider Planning and Operations team to develop processes, review operational procedures, identify areas for improvement and oversee the implementation of agreed changes
Working for our organisation
Within the Medicines Evaluation Programme, four Topic Delivery teams work with TA committees to develop TA guidance, while one team collaborates with the Rare Diseases committee to produce HST and TA guidance for rare conditions. TA recommendations are subject to a funding direction from the Secretary of State, and NICE is responsible for issuing guidance on all new medicines and new indications for existing medicines authorised by the MHRA.The programme publishes around 90–100 pieces of medicines guidance each year.
Independent TA committees, which meet monthly, develop recommendations. Members come from varied backgrounds, including NHS clinicians, health economists, statisticians, life sciences representatives, lay members, and other NHS practitioners.
The Planning and Operations team supports the programme by managing the schedule, planning operations, maintaining processes, and overseeing stakeholder relationships.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria- Postgraduate diploma, or equivalent qualification (e.g. non-English qualification) or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training/development
Experience
Essential criteria- Proven operational involvement in the management of complex projects involving multidisciplinary teams, with varying complexities and pressured deadlines. This should be underpinned and demonstrated by the use project management tools and techniques
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of regularly reviewing operational procedures and monitoring performance activities, identifying areas for improvement and overseeing the implementation of changes
Experience
Desirable criteria- Demonstrable experience in the supervision of team members, including conducting performance reviews, personal development plans, and providing support/pastoral care and delegation of work
