Saga is recruiting for their central IT Operations team. As the Senior IT Project Manager, you will report directly to our Head of Technology Operations and be fully responsible for the management and delivery of technology projects across Saga plc.
You will have a good understanding and appreciation of implementing a strong governance and process management into project delivery.
With Saga being a portfolio business model, here your project timescales and workload will be varied. You will truly be exposed to the latest technology solutions for businesses and current tech stacks.
In fact, no day will be the same, you will be working across multiple large-scale projects acting as the Technology Business Partner across all units including our external partners.

- Takes full responsibility for definition. documentation and successful completion of complex projects (typically with significant business and high-profile impact and high risk dependencies
- Management of the day-to-day operational and strategic aspects of multiple or large-scale client projects
- Provides effective leadership to the project management team and takes appropriate action where team performance deviates from the agreed tolerances.
- Delivery of Projects with multiple complex streams spanning multiple business functions
- Adopts and adapts project management methods and tools, selecting appropriately from plan driver/ predictive approaches
- Presenting business and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical groups
- Architecting the project approach during pre-sales or project planning phase
- Partaking and facilitating in contract development and negotiation
- Resolution of any issues and solve problems throughout project life cycle
- Tracking and reporting on project milestones and provide status report
- Management of the delivery of the project from initiation to closure. This will include project planning, reporting, management of issues and risks, quality planning, change control, delivery, handover, review, benefits realisation and project closure
- Ownership and resolution of project and programme risks and issues
- Ownership of the project and programme budgets
- Planning and facilitation of all project related meetings and workshops
- Developing project status reports to the steering group, project board and other stakeholders as per the reporting requirements of the project
- Development and management of project plans
- Ensuring that project communication plan is working in effectively and meets the needs of the project
- To manage the relationship with the external organisation and ensure that they are consistently delivering the project tasks
- Management of transition into BAU, decommissioning of assets and closure of project tasksThe Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience of large project and programme delivery and analysis
- Demonstrable experience of change lifecycle
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
- Knowledge of multiple development and delivery methodologies
- Change methodologies
- Have gained a relevant certificate in project management such as APM or PMP
- Working knowledge of Project Management tools; such as Jira or Service Now
Desirable:
- Can demonstrate knowledge of ITSM / SIAM processes
- Knowledge of delivering large projects and programmes in a regulated environment.
- Domain knowledge within financial services (Insurance)
