Clinical Conduct highly specialised assessments, treatment plans, and outcome evaluations for clients with complex communication difficulties. Provide specialist advice to professionals, clients, and carers, ensuring care is tailored to individual needs, including cultural and linguistic considerations.
Maintain a high level of knowledge on current practices, adapting clinical interventions based on the latest evidence. Manage the security and maintenance of equipment, adhering to infection control protocols. Communicate complex clinical information to clients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring empathy and clarity, particularly in challenging situations.
Motivate clients and carers to engage in the therapeutic process and contribute to decision-making. Build productive relationships with individuals experiencing stress or communication barriers, demonstrating advanced interpersonal skills. To evaluate national and international standards of care and ensure that speech and language therapy care is delivered effectively to these standards.
To transcribe speech disorders relating to cleft/craniofacial conditions disordered speech and make appropriate management plan. Caseload Management Use specialist knowledge to develop and implement care protocols and manage a clinically diverse caseload efficiently.
Produce reports and maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes, complying with RCSLT and Trust policies. Participate in service delivery, audit, and development, providing leadership in areas of expertise. Gather and report clinical activity data as required, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
Communication Work within a multidisciplinary team, negotiating and collaborating on complex case management. Deliver specialist advice and support to peers, professionals, and parent/user groups. Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality guidelines when sharing sensitive information.
To demonstrate empathy with clients, carers and families and colleagues, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist. To demonstrate skills in motivating clients and /or carers to engage in the therapeutic process, enabling them to contribute to the decision making process.
To form productive relationships with others who may be under stress and/or have challenging communication difficulties. To demonstrate the ability to reflect on auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of clients communication and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness.
To negotiate with children and young people, carers, and others around individual case management. To liaise with relevant parent / user groups as appropriate. Knowledge, Training & Experience Maintain and develop highly specialist skills through continuous professional development, including attending courses and participating in clinical audits.
Provide supervision and training to junior therapists, therapy assistants, and students, ensuring high standards of care and practice. Participate in research projects, contributing to the development of clinical standards and evidence-based practice.
Demonstrate knowledge of relevant national and local guidelines, including Safeguarding, Special Educational Needs, and clinical governance frameworks. Professional Requirements - Clinical Governance Maintain HCPC registration and adhere to RCSLT and Trust professional codes of conduct.
Engage in personal and professional development, ensuring that individual performance reviews reflect the Trusts service goals. Participate in clinical governance and audit projects to enhance the quality and safety of service delivery. Be accountable for professional actions, recognising boundaries and seeking support when necessary.

Manage complaints sensitively and efficiently, ensuring resolution where possible to avoid escalation. Reflect on clinical practice and actively engage in peer reviews and supervision.
