About Our Client

Our client is a well-established, regional law firm. They are looking for a Commercial Litigation Associate/Senior Associate to join their busy team. The role will be split between their Manchester and Lancashire office with some hybrid working.

Job Description

As a Commercial Litigation Associate/Senior Associate your duties will include:

  • Advising clients on a wide range of Commercial Litigation matters, including but not limited to: shareholder actions, disputes between directors, partnership disputes, Breach of contract/warranty, Professional negligence, Commercial contracts disputes and enforcement, Media and PR disputes, Non-Disclosure and Licensing Agreements, public procurement challenges, legal relationships in the construction and manufacturing sectors;
  • Sound knowledge of civil procedure and the CPR;
  • Utilising your own professional contacts to further the team's success and growth such as with work referrers, clients and experts;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the departmental strategic business plan and be aware of new work opportunities to drive business growth within the department;
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with current/prospective clients, referrers and stakeholders and enhancing the firm's profile;
  • Active contribution to business development including, presentations and training events, articles/newsletters, Chambers & Legal 500 submissions, attendance at BD events etc.
  • Supporting the Head of Department, Partners and other advisors on their own cases, and the delivery of the departmental strategy and business objectives;
  • Management, supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring of (and delegation of work to) Solicitors and Paralegals - to facilitate the achievement of their business objectives and professional development goals;
  • Meeting a fee earning and chargeable time target;
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external business requirements including ISO:9001 quality control, SRA Principles / Code of Conduct, Court & Tribunal deadlines;
  • Monitoring and reporting on own financial and business performance, and of colleagues under the Partners management / supervision responsibilities, to deliver work in a profitable manner;
  • Contributing towards internal continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing;
  • Inter-departmental support and collaboration on joint files, projects & events and an awareness of internal referral of work opportunities within the firm.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Commercial Litigation Associate/Senior Associate should have a minimum of 5 PQE for the Associate role and 8 PQE for the Senior Associate role.
