An exciting opportunity has arisen within Women’s and Children’s Division at Watford General Hospital. We are friendly, hard-working team of administrative, nursing and medical staff. We take great pride in helping our patients and in delivering the best service we can.
We are looking for an experienced Patient services Officer who is a self-motivated and committed person, to work as part of our busy team in our back office.
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational and I.T skills, and the ability to prioritise workload and be able to work with limited supervision.
Main duties of the job
Reception & ANC cover, making/rescheduling appointments, cashing up clinics. Puling/ordering notes, printing clinic lists & prepping for clinics. General filing. Tracking notes & printing labels.
To ensure patient data is accurate & up to date.
To undertake any other administrative duties as directed by The Senior Office Manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To ensure effective maintenance of patient records and that appointments are made in a timely manner, providing professional and friendly service to our users.
Key relationships: Ward clerks, clinical coders, midwives, doctors, Risk Office, Access to records office, patient service officers.
Please note that this post is cross site between Watford , St Albans city and Hemel Hempstead hospitals.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths
- ECDL Customer Service Training
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare support services or equivalent qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Competent in Microsoft Office programs
- Understanding of information governance issues and how to manage confidential patient information
- Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems, (e.g.) Cerner Millenium
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working in a busy environment
- Experience working in an administrative role
- Previous healthcare experience
- Reception experience
- Experience of handling confidential information
