Design and Technology Technician

The Hamblin Education Trust has operated since September 2016 consisting of two schools, Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and North Cestrian School. We are seeking a proactive, skilled, and enthusiastic Design and Technology Technician to join our Design and Technology Department and support the delivery of high-quality DT education at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.
You will play a key role in preparing materials and resources, maintaining equipment, and supporting staff and students across a range of design disciplines including Product Design, Electronics and Computer Aided Design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, maintain, and manage tools, equipment, and materials for practical DT lessons.
- Provide technical support to teachers and students during lessons and project work.
- Ensure all DT classrooms, workshops, and tools meet health and safety standards.
- Assist in the design and production of teaching resources and displays.
- Support the use of specialist equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines.
- Maintain inventory and manage ordering of stock and materials.
- Contribute to the development of new projects and practical resources.
Person Specification:
- A background in Design and Technology, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Practical skills in working with a variety of materials.
- Familiarity with CAD software and workshop machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to health and safety and willingness to undertake relevant training.
Desirable:
- Experience working in and educational environment.
- First aid and health & safety training (eg. COSHH, risk assessment).

Salary: NJC Scale 5 Points 12-17 (£27,711-£30,060 FTE) Actual salary will be £24,305-£26,366 commensurate with experience. This is a full time role (36.25 hrs per week) term time only plus ten days.
