This job offers the successful Teaching Assistant the chance to join a high achieving team, and challenge themselves and the pupils to progress their reading age and overall Literacy skills.
With the EYFS curriculum now focussing heavily on progress from Reception into Year 1, the head teacher has created this post for a dynamic Teaching Assistant to work exclusively on supporting phonics on a small group basis, and ensuring all children have the necessary reading skills to build on in the future.The school sets high expectations of staff and pupils, and are looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to support the delivery of systematic synthetic phonics across phases 2-4. As a literacy specialist TA,. your input at planning meetings will be welcome, particularly on implementing a multi-sensory approach to phonics development.
The successful Teaching Assistant will have at least NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, and at least 6 months experience supporting phonics in FS / KS1 within the last year. The ability to work under your own initiative and the confidence and vision to participate in planning meetings are essential.Experience of assessing pupil progress and supporting the Year 1 phonics test is also desirable. Appointment to this post is dependant on Hays Education being able to obtain satisfactory
references and completing an enhanced DBS check.
