An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Compliance Officer to join a growing and dynamic team in the legal sector. This role offers the flexibility to work full-time or integrate compliance responsibilities into a broader operational or administrative role on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), the role includes:

  • Compliance Monitoring & Risk Assessment:
Conducting regular audits and risk assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities and implementing corrective measures.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
Ensuring adherence to industry regulations, including AML, data protection laws, and professional ethics.
  • Policy Development & Training:
Developing, reviewing, and updating internal compliance policies. Delivering training and support to staff to ensure a clear understanding of compliance responsibilities.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
Preparing comprehensive compliance reports and maintaining accurate records of audits and compliance activities.
  • Advisory Role:
Providing compliance-related advice to legal teams and management.
  • Incident Management:

Investigating compliance breaches and swiftly implementing corrective measures.

Qualifications & SkillsThe ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple responsibilities. Experience in a compliance role is advantageous but not essential. Key qualifications include:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain regulatory requirements clearly.
  • High level of integrity and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with legal software and compliance tools is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in a compliance role, ideally in a law firm or professional services environment (preferred but not required).
  • Understanding of AML regulations, data protection laws, and legal ethics (preferred but not required).
