An opportunity has arisen to join Eurostar as its Finance Business Partner Stations & Business Development up to April 2025 on an FTC.

The Finance department is responsible for defining and deploying the financial strategy, debt and cash management. The Business Partnering Team delivers functional forecasting, budgeting, and analytical activities. It provides decision support for both performance management and capital expenditure to management, and the ExCo.

The Business Partnering Team enables all functions across Eurostar Group to manage financial performance, cash flow and capital expenditure to achieve budget targets and the longer-term strategic objectives of Eurostar Group. This is achieved by reporting accurate financial information, provision of insight from data analysis and provision of financial expertise to ExCo and their teams.

This position is based at our Kings Cross Office.

Requirements

We are looking for someone to...
  • Support delivery of monthly close process collaborating with the Accounting & Control Team ensuring completeness of costs and commentary against budget and latest forecast for business area.
  • Collaborate with Accounting & Control to ensure cost recognition is aligned with IFRS and only eligible costs are capitalized.
  • Prepare and lead quarterly reviews for business area covering performance to date, forecast for year to go.
  • Drive delivery of the Budgeting process for business area.
  • Utilise business and cost knowledge to support Financial Planning & Analysis and Long-Term Planning & Project team where required.
  • Proactively challenge performance and drive change to achieve or beat operational and financial targets ensuring compliance with procurement and financial governance processes.
  • Prepare robust business cases for functional capital expenditure.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to achieve functional cost targets. Mitigate risks and pursue opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across department and business area acting as financial go to person for business stakeholders.
  • Understand the requirements of a diverse range of stakeholders with messaging expertly tailored to each stakeholder.
  • Prepare analyses to aid business decision making ensuring clear links with business ‘cost drivers’.
  • Champion financial governance across business area ensuring adherence to Procurement governance, business case governance, recruitment governance etc.
  • Collaborate with business areas to find solutions to forecast cost overruns and to accommodate unanticipated spend.
  • Partner with Procurement to identify and deliver cost efficiencies.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with confidence and articulation.
  • Be resilient and flexible to balance changing priorities of both Finance and business area.
  • Emotionally intelligent in ensuring physical presence where it matters versus communication by digital tools (Teams, emails, instant messaging).
  • Ad-hoc support to Senior Finance Business Partner – Commercial & Stations where required.

Essential
  • Ability to think holistically about risks and opportunities and present persuasively for a course of action.
  • Proven skills in influencing others both within and outside of Finance and across countries.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical expertise - advanced ability to analyze and simplify data to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail whilst being able to maintain the bigger picture.
  • English language skills (Advanced)
Desirable
  • Working knowledge of Workday Adaptive planning software.
  • Experience in the rail and travel industries
  • French language skills (Medium / Professional Working Proficiency)
