The post holder will be managed rather than supervised. DIMENSIONS To work within the scope of the CANDo portfolios. To work with and portfolio governance. COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Demonstrate a high level of communication skills with staff, patients and carers.
The ability to discuss complex, sensitive or contentious issues. Expected to work and liaise closely with the divisional management teams and Business Intelligence teams in delivering service needs. Required to have active listening skills and be able to motivate, persuade and negotiate with all levels of staff.
To credibly present project progress, benefits realisation, risks and issues and sometimes contentious information to groups of staff From time to time to deputize for the Programme Director in areas connected to own portfolio KEY RESULT AREAS Responsibility for Patients Provide information relating to projects to patients and their relatives/carers as required.
Communication with patients to ensure they are kept informed as appropriate regarding their patient experience as part of the project. Responsibility for Policy and Service Development The post-holder is responsible to work within trust policies and procedures.
Participate on the review of relevant policies and guidelines relating projects, ensuring they are evidence based and up to date; these will have the potential to impact beyond own area of work. Work within the scope of the operating policy for the project.
Responsibility for Financial and Physical Resources The post-holder is responsible to ensure that all areas of work give consideration to the financial impact and to keep this at a minimum. Personal duty of care to ensure any equipment used is used appropriately.
Responsibility for Staff The post-holder is responsible to ensure any staff allocated to work with them, are given comprehensive and high quality information regarding all aspects of projects.. The post holder will be involved with the management and support of staff and volunteers.
Responsibility for Information Resources Conversant with Trust wide systems to enable data input and retrieval Complies at all times with the Trust and National data protection and Confidentiality policies. Input, review and retrieve information from project management software (Celoxis) Input data into relevant spreadsheets and databases relating to projects.
Maintain spreadsheets and databases to prospectively collect, monitor, analyse and report information data, including trends. Produce data/audit reports using simple statistical analysis. Maintain spreadsheets and databases for the collection of audit datasets.
Responsibility for Research and Development The post-holder will undertake audits as required, both local and national, developing action plans from outcomes and implementing change. Will participate in evaluation and decision-making in the tendering process for service development.
Physical Skills Ability to travel to other sites when required (for meetings, training etc) Analytical & Judgement Skills To Lead and/or participate in local and audits as appropriate, to evaluate outcomes, manage change and re-evaluate. To have the skills and ability to interpret, analyse and assess complex facts or situations, making appropriate decisions and taking appropriate action To manage situations of conflict in a professional and conciliatory manner.
Planning & Organisational Skills To independently plan and organise complex workload and activities ability to adapt and re-prioritise at short notice. Plan, develop and deliver transformation projects within the Trust and across West Dorset.
Keep comprehensive and accurate project documentation in line with governance and trust policy. Environment and Effort Combination of sitting, standing and walking. Some travel required between sites within Dorset There is significant computer work involved in the post requiring the post holder to sit at a computer screen for long periods of time.
There may be a requirement for moderate physical activity for short periods when moving records, paper or equipment. The post holder will use advanced keyboard skills to produce accurate reports and communicate with programme team and wider stakeholders Mental Effort The post holder will be required to undertake work requiring a high level of concentration on at least a daily basis.
The work pattern will be unpredictable and so there is a likelihood of frequent interruptions. The post holder is expected to concentrate for long periods at a time transferring and documenting sensitive/confidential data into databases, spreadsheets and word documents.
However, the work will be within clear procedures and processes. The post holder must be able to prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines, both local and those set by Macmillan as part of this project. Emotional Effort There will be some occasional direct and indirect exposure to emotional or distressing situations.
Working Conditions This is a hybrid role where some homeworking and some office working is expected and enabled. A full time post holder in this role would normally be expected to be in one of the acute sites at least 2 days per week. Whilst the post holder could nominate a base from any of the acute hospital sites the post holder will from time to time need to travel to other sites in Dorset.
