Children's Floating Support Worker - Oxford

Rocasa are looking for a Children's Support Worker to cover a Maternity Leave working in 35 hours per week in Oxfordshire paying up to £15.49ph via umbrella

Role Overview:

As a Children’s Support Officer, you will be part of our Oxfordshire’s Young Parents team that provide high quality person-centred parenting and child support to young mums living in supported accommodation.

With up to 20 mums aged 16 - 24 as part of the scheme across 20 properties, you will play a key role in supporting to create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for the child/children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the young parents using a person-centred approach, liaising with childcare, nursery, school placements, midwives, health visitors and Children’s Services to assist in creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for the child/children
  • Work with Support Officers to agree and review Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments on a regular basis, deliver contracted hours of support to achieve the required outcomes
  • Flexibly deliver the support identified in an Independent Living Plan through regular person-centered 1-2-1 or group contact including play, parental responsibilities and the understanding of developmental needs, bringing in specialized services and funding where necessary such as babysitting, baby massage and weaning programs
  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice
  • Forge and maintain links with internal departments, partner agencies, other key stakeholders and directly with families as appropriate, ensuring that good communication and co-operation is maintained to ensure wraparound support for the family
  • Report any concerns relating to safeguarding of vulnerable people using the correct procedures, attending case conferences and other meetings as required
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation and records are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner
  • Actively contribute to the collection of data to be used in statutory returns
  • Empower the young parents to ensure the safety, security and cleanliness of the project, including adherence with internal policies and procedures and reporting repairs where necessary
  • Handle complaints and representations in accordance with policy and undertake any necessary investigations
  • Work outside of standard office hours, as required, to deliver services, including on-call, following lone working procedures

  • Previous experience working with and supporting people in achieving and maintaining independence
  • Knowledge of child protection requirements and reporting safeguarding concerns
  • High level of relationship skills: empathy, mutual acceptance, supportive and constructive challenge; positive expectation for the future
  • Professional and value led with integrity, inclusivity and respect for diversity
  • Driving license and access to a car is essential
