Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join our Pharmacy Aseptic and Production Services team. In this role, you will support the maintenance and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with GMP, regulatory standards, and Trust policies.

Your responsibilities will include document control, supporting investigations, contributing to audits, monitoring aseptic processes, and assisting with validation activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving, collaboration, and working within a quality driven environment.

All staff take part in the Saturday morning, Bank Holiday and extended hours rotas. Part time working will be considered.

Person specification

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Undergraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences (or equivalent level of experience of GMP Quality Assurance / Quality Control.) OR Registered Pharmacy Technician in UK by GPhC OR Registered Science Technician (Apprenticeship Standard – Level 3 Diploma in the Principles of Aseptic Pharmaceuticals Processing) in UK by the Science Council
  • Demonstrates times when able to work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to use initiative, but know their own limitations and professional boundaries
  • Ability to use a range of information technology programmes effectively including Microsoft office programmes
  • Good organisational skills and effective time management with the ability to prioritise workload appropriately
  • Maintaining continuous professional development requirements or training portfolio
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong accurate communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under accurately under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining required standards.
  • Experience following SOPs and policies
  • Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent or IELTS test score 7 as required by GPhC if overseas candidate
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in relation to the production of sterile medicines
  • Experience of developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies
  • Experience in audits, validation, and quality preparation of guidelines & procedures and writing of reports
  • Experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Experience in preparing and presenting at meetings.
