The Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to act as a lead on technical accounting projects and support the Financial Controller in the management of Redgate’s technical accounting, compliance, processes, and controls work as required to ensure the production of accurate, relevant and timely financial data.

This opportunity is for a 12 months fixed term contract.

We operate from a flexible hybrid model, that supports a healthy work-life balance. For this role, we’re looking for candidates who live close to our Cambridge office.

Your Work at Redgate Software:

  • Technical leadership – go to person for technical accounting questions. Maintain your CPD and ensure that you help Redgate remain compliant and aligned with industry best-practice through sharing that knowledge with and influencing, the team.
  • Project & change management - work alongside the Financial Controller to lead and support bespoke change and improvement project work to enable the delivery of the FinOps strategy. Where business partnering identifies changes being made throughout Redgate that we need to align with or deliver, proactively engage in that process and manage the impact on the team.
  • Month end close - undertake key accounting duties to reconcile the trial balance each month, ensuring the accuracy on both a statutory accounting and management accounting basis, including identifying variances against budget as required for entities within the group. Reviewing month end schedules of other Finance team members.
  • Controls and processes – support Finance’s internal controls environment by reviewing processes and controls already in place and suggesting improvements to increase efficiencies whilst ensuring key controls are not compromised. Produce documentation for processes and controls as required.
  • Act as key bridge between the Finance Operations Team and the Financial Planning & Analysis Team, balancing the requirements for statutory reporting with management reporting, ensuring the best outcome for Redgate and compliance with accounting regulations.
  • Review monthly payroll for overseas entities within the group.
  • Revenue – act as key contact for technical revenue queries and revenue treatment under both IFRS and FRS 102.
  • Treasury – approve online bank payments, ensuring that payments are not approved without dual verification of bank details and values.
  • Tax – As required, work with the Tax Accountant to support domestic and international tax compliance both for direct and indirect taxes and including group transfer pricing.
  • M&A – support the Financial Controller in any M&A activities, including due diligence and integration project work.
  • Supporting the group consolidation and financial statements – supporting the production of the Annual Report through, for example, working on discrete aspects of year end accounting in line with FRS 102 and preparing the group consolidation, cashflow and relevant notes.
  • Supporting the production of internal financial reporting under IFRS, including relevant adjustments for revenue, commission and leases.
  • Supporting the external audit.
  • Ad hoc technical queries – act as lead on any ad-hoc technical queries that may arise, especially accounting treatment under IFRS and UK GAAP. Represent Finance in any projects around the business.
  • Support the Financial Controller and Redgate - taking on other roles and responsibilities that are consistent with this role and within your area of expertise. Deputise for the Financial Controller and support the Finance team as required.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Accountant who is ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Experience of project management and delivering change.
  • Problem solver.
  • Continuous improver.
  • Strong Excel skills including Sumifs, Vlookups, pivot tables and nested formulae.
  • Good understanding of financial laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 and IFRS.
  • Practice identifying and rectifying process inefficiencies.
  • Able to communicate finance issues with non-finance audiences.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Practical experience of dealing with any of the below is desirable:
  • Direct and indirect taxes,
  • acquisitions,
  • valuations,
  • preparing monthly management accounts and trial balances
  • Documenting and reviewing accounting policies, processes and controls
  • financial statements and group consolidations including transitions from FRS 102 to IFRS
  • NetSuite, and
  • Reviewing accounting workpapers and payroll prepared by outsourced payroll providers.
  • Action biased, with the ability to make judgements and decisions in complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Risk management; understand and prioritise getting the right things done.
  • Data driven; make data driven decisions, pay attention to the details, analyse and look for cause and effect.
  • Build great relationships - great communication and collaboration is the key to getting things done.

Salary:

  • Base: £55,000 - £75,000
