A vacancy has arisen for a Team Leader to join our Musculoskeletal Outpatient Service based at Various sites within Oldham

We receive self-referrals, referrals from Primary Care, Secondary Care and A&E.

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual to work closely with our MSK Physiotherapy Team Leaders and Operational Leads.

You will have evidence of leadership skills through project work and be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellent care and customer service. You should have proven experience of staff and service development.

You must be able to demonstrate specialist skills in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions and the ability to manage a complex caseload.

You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching, research, and managerial skills. Opportunities for staff development; in-service training; and protected supervision time are well established within the service.

Main duties of the job
  • To have day to day management responsibility for physiotherapy and administrative staff within the service
  • To ensure effective operational management of the service and delivery of high quality, safe, person-centred care
  • To manage a complex caseload of patients with both acute and chronic conditions
  • To support Operational leads with workforce planning and recruitment
  • To work closely with Operational Leads on the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the service.
  • To contribute to service development, research, and audit within the specialism.
  • To provide teaching, training, supervision and support for junior staff and students
  • To manage patient concerns and support in the investigation of formal complaints and incidents.

Registration/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training in relevant speciality.
  • Willingness to undertake training in specialist area to master’s level or equivalent.
  • Research and Development experience.
  • Knowledge / Involvement of project working.
  • Specialist knowledge in anatomy and physiology to support relevant clinical skills. Audit experience of own and others practice. Contribution to service and staff development
  • Good working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management.
  • Previous experience undertaking band 7 role.
  • Appropriate post-registration experience at a senior level
  • Experience of team management/ leadership.
  • Experience of working within a team and independently
  • Experience of liaison with other professionals and partnership working.
  • Basic understanding of computers and their applications.
Desirable criteria
  • NHS Leadership courses or programmes

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to present information in a clear and logical manner.
  • Teaching, supervisory and appraisal skills and experience on a regular basis
  • Proven organisational skills including, time management, effective delegation and prioritisation and the ability to complete a task.
  • Ability to work autonomously within specialist clinical area
  • To comprehend and work within the Trusts policies of data protection, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients.
  • Able to travel between sites. Where the post involves community work and/or on call driving is essential
  • Physically fit and able to comply with the Trusts moving and handling guidelines subject to reasonable adjustments under the terms of the Equality Act 2010.
  • Ability to work within a stressful and un-predictable environment
