To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial service to a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Middle Grade Doctors, and supporting teams within the T&O Department. To work collaboratively with other Medical Secretary colleagues to ensure clinically correspondence is produced and distributed designated timescales.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial service to the Consultants, Middle Grade Doctors and supporting teams within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department. Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS Administration procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of Patient confidentiality
  • Exhibits good organisational skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
Desirable criteria
  • Proficient in use of Patient Administration System (Oasis)

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria
  • RSA / OCR III in typewriting / word processing or equivalent
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics- grade C or above
  • Audio Typing
Desirable criteria
  • Medical Secretary AMSPAR Diploma

Interests and Motivation

Essential criteria
  • Willing to undertake training to meet the requirements of the role in an ever changing NHS
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of researching position applied for
