We hold public legal aid contract in family Law, Immigration and Asylum Law. We also undertake work on private fee charging basis.
We work to the LEXCEL standard and hold the Law Society LEXCEL Accreditation.
We provide specialist advice, advocacy and representation in all aspects of Public Children Law, Private Children Law, Domestic Abuse, Divorce and separation, Financial Settlement, TOLATA for cohabitants, Asylum Applications and Appeals for minors as well as adults, Human Rights Immigration Applications and Appeals, Family Settlement Applications and Appeals, student Visas Applications and Appeals, Family Settlement Applications and Appeals, Student Visas Applications and Appeals, Migrant Workers Applications, student Visas Applications and Appeals, Settlement under other categories of Immigration Law and Rules, Nationality Applications, Judicial Reviews, Bail Applications, Asylum Interviews, Entry Clearance Applications and appeals, Visitor Visas, Investment Visas.
As result of continued growth we have new opportunity within the Family Law Team for a paralegal to specialise in Childcare work. This is an opportunity within a very friendly but a very busy fast moving area of family law.The Role
- To undertake all aspects of legal work relating to supporting the solicitors/senior Solicitors in the conduct of their caseloads and to assist in drafting of documents for court.
- To assist in the preparation of applications/response for court, including obtaining statements from clients, witnesses and to liaise with a variety of professionals including local authorities, social workers, courts, opponents solicitors, experts, and barristers chambers.
- conduct of routine children act based cases under direct day to supervision - subject to level of experience including attending court hearings where appropriate, making interim application, drafting witness statements, instructions to experts, instructions to counsel.

- any other duties appropriate to the role which may be assigned from time to time.
- Person Specification
- Essential requirements: team working, attention to detail, confident dealing with people from all walks of life, tactful, patient, calm, well organised, good IT skills and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to working with vulnerable children and adults in difficult family circumstances within strict timescales
- The ideal candidate will already have children act experience and/or experience working within a Family Law Team, however candidates with a keen interest in this area of law will be considered.
- Experience in Legal Aid work is highly desirable.
- Good client care manner and empathetic nature, willingness to learn and team spirit is a must have quality.
- You will need to be organised with good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise work.
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent time management abilities
- IT skills for data management and troubleshooting
- Organizational skills for managing casework efficiently
- Legal drafting experience or willingness to learn
- Background in protective injunctions, matrimonial and or public and private children act or related field is a plus
Pay: £22,500.00-£27,000.00 per year
