Band 7 - Senior Rotational Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy
Job overview
We are seeking a skilled, innovative, and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join our team of Senior Rotational Pharmacists.
The successful candidate will provide clinical pharmacy services across various specialties, including Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Surgery, Acute Admissions, Paediatrics, ICU, Virtual Hospital, and Antimicrobials on a rotational basis.
The department offers a supportive and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical expertise.
This role involves working Monday to Friday, with weekend shifts on a rota basis. Full details will be discussed at the interview.
Main duties of the job
The role includes:- Providing expert pharmaceutical care to patients from admission to discharge on the wards and Virtual Hospital.
- Developing the role of the pharmacist in the multi-disciplinary team at ward level.
- Day to day working with the medicines management technicians.
- Providing prescribing advice and support to junior medical staff.
- Educating patients about their medicines.
- Training of medical and nursing staff.
- Supervision and training of junior and foundation trainee pharmacists, technicians and assistants.
- Participation in clinical audit, preparation of policies and procedures and involvement in risk management.

Person specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential criteria- MPharm (or equivalent overseas degree).
- GPhC registration.
- Certificate in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).
- MSc/Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
- Management Training.
Knowledge:
Essential criteria- Prescription Monitoring.
- Computer and IT Literate.
- Need for Confidentiality.
- Well-developed therapeutic and clinical pharmacy knowledge in unscheduled care.
- Up to date knowledge of national pharmacy issues.
- NHS organisational structure.
- Health and Safety.
- Critical appraisal skills.
- Preparation of written reports and procedures.
Experience:
Essential criteria- Recent experience in providing clinical services to acute medical and surgical wards.
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Training Pre-re Pharmacists and Junior Staff.
- Audit/research and development.

- Clinical tutoring of post graduate trainee pharmacist.
