Working Full time : 37.5 hours per week
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work as part of the Audiology admin team in providing an effective administrative, clerical and typing support to the Clinical Audiology department.
  • We are looking for someone who has previous experience of dealing with the public/customer care duties is able to communicate effectively at all levels verbally and in writing.
  • You will be IT literate, flexible and enjoy working as part of a busyteam.
Main duties of the job
  1. To provide a first line response service when managing enquiries from patients and professionals over the telephone or via email.
  2. To respond in a timely and accurate manner to requests for information and general enquiries either in person, by telephone or by email.
  3. To record onto and maintain the Audiology patient management system and the hospital patient management system in relation to making and changing patient appointments and recording clinical activity.
  4. To undertake clear and timely assessment of the Audiology service's booking process, providing regular progress monitoring reports to the Head of Clinical Audiology and Audiology team.
  5. Ensure that you are familiar with the practices of other team members so that you can assist in the event of absence, maintaining adequate secretarial and administrative cover within the speciality at all times.
  6. The post holder will prioritise their workload and use innovative processes to ensure the smooth operation of the service.
  7. As required work as part of the wider Clinical Audiology team in completing day to day tasks commensurate with the banding.

Working for our organisation

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds.
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.

The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • RSA I typing or ECDL Qualification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience of dealing with the public/Customer Care duties
  • Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using databases, word, excel and email
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous experience of dealing with a variety of tasks within a busy office environment

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

If the role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Enhanced DBS check applications that are submitted with omitted or incorrect information will be withdrawn. In the event errors are identified on your original application, a new application will need to be submitted and you will be required to pay the DBS application fee again.

The cost of the DBS application will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.
