Job overview

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, highly motivated, caring and committed Ward Manager for Edenwood Ward Carleton Clinic.

Edenwood is an assessment and Treatment Unit for people with learning disabilities whose needs cannot be safely managed at the current time within the community.

On Edenwood the persons mental health and complex care needs can be fully assessed in a safe environment by a team of specialist health professionals.

We offer specialist support for people with a learning disability autism or mental health diagnosis and/ or beviours of concern.

If you welcome a challenge, and a unique opportunity to manage a specialist service, we would like to hear from you. In return we offer a full induction, in-service training programme, regular supervision, and the continued support of a well-established MDT.

Main duties of the job
  1. Take day to day operational management responsibility for the ward team..
  2. Policy and service development/improvement, in partnership with other lead nurses and the involvement team.
  3. Be an effective leader and role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
  4. Effective management of resources, including: financial, staffing, clinical equipment. Ensuring that the service functions at an optimal level, within its agreed level of resources.
  5. Responsibility for creating, and maintaining, an environment that is conducive to facilitating learning and development for staff, patients, carers, students and other healthcare professionals. Ensuring all members of staff have regular clinical and management supervision, appraisals, statutory and mandatory training, and access to specialist training to allow them to competently work within all areas of the Physical Treatment Team.
