Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working

Warwick Hospital – Helen Clark Suite
Clinical Support Worker Breast Care – Band 3 job share, fixed term for two years- 18.75 hours but alternating between a two and three day week.
We are looking for a patient, calm, motivated and enthusiastic support worker to join the Breast Care Nursing Team in the Helen Clark Suite.
The post holder will undertake a variety of duties including the coordination of breast prosthesis fitting clinics and undertaking photography clinics for pre and post-operative patients. The role includes stock management for the department, supporting the reception team as required and being a point of contact for patients contacting the team in support of the breast care nurses.
Having a knowledge of Lorenzo, ICE, Evolve and Excel is a benefit but you will be fully supported in your on-going learning and development. A Care Certificate is required for the role but this can be undertaken as part of the Induction process.

Main duties of the job
To work within a breast care unit which provides care for patients who engage with the service for diagnostic assessment and treatment. The breast care nursing team's aim is to provide a holistic service for our patients so that they feel supported and informed through out their time with us.The role's main duties are :-
Manage prosthesis fitting clinics
To provide a pre and post operative photography clinic for patients undergoing breast surgery
Manage the departments clinical stores
Provide cover for our reception team at times

As a member of the breast care nursing team, under indirection supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist undertake simple dressings using aseptic technique
Report to the Clinical Nurse Specialist any changes to the patient’s mental and physical condition
Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted e.g. breast awareness/breast screening
Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence
Undertake patient fitting clinics for patients requiring refitting with breast prosthesis
Information processes.
Record information and activities undertaken with patients and carers in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systems as appropriate
Inputs accurate activity data about patients onto the Trust Patient Administration system to ensure accurate retrieval of information for monitoring and auditing processes
Maintain confidentiality of information relating to patients, relatives, and staff
Take the necessary precautions when transmitting information
Have a sound working knowledge of Lorenzo, ICE, Evolve and Mosaique

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Good level of basic education or equivalent – GCSE English, Maths or equivalent
- NVQ level 3 or working towards this or equivalent qualification
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- CSW course specific to breast care
- Full clean driving licence
- Receptionist training or experience
Experience
Essential criteria- 2 years previous experience working in a healthcare environment
- Experience working under indirect supervision
- Experience of working within a team.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience of working with patients who have a cancer diagnosis
- Experience of working with patients who have a breast cancer diagnosis
Skills/Knowledge
Essential criteria- Demonstrates an understanding of the role of the health care assistant
- Clinical skills and competency relevant to the role e.g. simple dressings utilising aseptic technique
- Undertaking observations of pulse, BP, respirations, temperature
- Standard keyboard skills and knowledge of hospital computer programmes e.g. Lorenzo, ICE, Evolve, Mosaique
