Job Description: Production Controller
Reports to: Managing Director
Based at: Factair Ltd, 49 Boss Hall Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 5BN
Job purpose:

To effectively plan and schedule the company’s manufacturing and service teams. Coordinating with the purchasing and operations team. Ensuring new production and repaired / serviced equipment meets customer’s expectations and equipment is delivered on time.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling work in the assembly, fabrication and service areas. Maintain the production manufacturing system, co-ordinating with the Buyer to ensure parts and equipment are scheduled then manufactured in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Planning a dynamic schedule of work to balance manufacturing / service and meet customer expectations. Chair weekly production and service meetings, liaising with the Operations, Design and Sales Teams.
  • Responsible for the production and purchasing IT system. In conjunction with the Design team ensure production costs are being monitored and bill of materials are kept up to date. Reviewing ongoing manufacturing work in progress and stock financial reports for accuracy and liasing with the Accounts department.
  • Assist the Sales and Design teams with customer enquiries for specialist products.
  • In conjunction with the Managing Director, assist in regards to Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental aspects in the production and service workshop areas.
  • On an ongoing basis identify opportunities to improve systems and work practices.
Minimum Competency
  • Minimum of 5 years within an engineering environment, which includes relevant experience in either scheduling and organising production.
  • Fully conversant and experienced with manufacturing software systems
