Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital and local CCG networks, aiming to set the standard for the future of pathology.

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, you will support the development of our existing communication channels at SYNLAB and Synnovis and execute business as usual (BAU) communications and engagement activity, alongside working with the wider communications team to support our exciting Transformation Programme.

Main duties of the job

Day-to-day you will support the SYNLAB UK&I Communications team, which serves six brands and over 3,000 employees. Specifically, you will take the lead on:

  • Our digital channel implementation across all Synnovis locations
  • Email & intranet platform management
  • Hub communications and engagement
  • Producing and distributing a range of regular newsletters, with the support of the Internal Communications Administrator
  • Developing and delivering internal communications plans for specific activities/projects working in partnership with colleagues across our organisation. These may include DEI and ESG initiatives
  • Supporting the Internal Communication and Corporate Communications functions as required with various activities including surveys and the administration, preparation and delivery of employee events (invites/ RSVPs, chat monitor, content etc)
  • Representing internal communication at cross department meetings
  • Supporting the Internal Communications Manager - Transformation and Change with the set up and delivery of employee communications around Synnovis’ Transformation agenda
  • As our wider OneSYNLAB programme progresses this year, there willbe opportunities to help to improve existing, or deliver new, digital, communication and collaboration channels that help us to further drive employee engagement acrossthe wider SYNLAB business.

Working for our organisation

At Synnovis, we are currently shaping the future of pathology services by creating a world-leading Hub and Spoke pathology network with our NHS partners. A large part of this modernisation will involve moving 70% of our services to a purpose built, state of the art Hub laboratory in the heart of London.

For now, the job you are applying for will be based at our Hub laboratory in Blackfriars, Southwark, SE1. We work flexibly and currently do two days per week in the office.

Synnovis is a pathology partnership between SYNLAB UK and Ireland, and the NHS, including sites, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to deliver and transform pathology services across South East London.

The partnership provides services to 1.7 million people living in South East London, as well as to hundreds of thousands of patients from outside the region who use local healthcare services.

The partnership provides diagnostics, testing and digital pathology for hospital trusts, GP services and other healthcare providers.

Synnovis’ Corporate HQ; housing our Finance, Procurement, HR, Service Improvement and Business Development teams. We have a relaxed, but professional atmosphere with monthly corporate updates to keep you informed on our progress. Situated 5 minutes from Southwark station you will have easy access to the vibrant South Bank and local amenities.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A-level (Grade C or higher) English Language or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in communications or marketing related subject

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Two years experience of delivering and implementing communications plans and measuring their effectiveness.
  • Experience of delivering communications across digital platforms

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Creative communicator able to develop inspiring and engaging communications.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills and ability to communicate with employees at varying levels of seniority.
  • Experience of managing digital content, including working with intranets, collaboration forums and e-newsletter software.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines / prioritise workload.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure, using your initiative and recognising your limitations.
  • Excellent IT skills with excellence knowledge/experience of MS Office Suite particularly Word and PowerPoint.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including products such as: MS Teams & Stream
  • Event Management experience.
  • Previous experience of working with survey tools.
