Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic SCPHN-School Nurse to join our team in High Wycombe team. You will join a School Nursing service which offers varied work experiences, from child protection through to health education in schools, no day will be the same and you will enjoy a balanced caseload and working week.The team work with Health Visiting, Family Nurse Partnership and CYP Integrated Therapies, which supports authentic partnership working across the professions.
All SCPHN’s benefit from our collaborative and positive relationship with other agencies, including supervision from CAMH’s and delivering training with Buckinghamshire Council Public Health Team.
Newly Qualified SCPHN’s are welcome to apply and will be supported through a preceptorship and local orientation to familiarise yourself with Buckinghamshire. If you want to continue your studies, we have strong links with Buckinghamshire New University and can support you to undertake your SCPHN Master’s module, or even encourage you to link with our internal BHT Research and Innovation Team to conduct your own research related to School Nursing.BHT also boasts a range of leadership and management training to further enhance skills and competence, we actively encourage all our team to continue learning and developing professionally.
Part-time post available for 30 hours, with the potential to increase to 37.5.
Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, you will have excellent communication skills and a broad knowledge of working in the community with children and their wider family.
You will be a solution focused team player who will support the delivery of BHT Integrated Public Health Nursing Service across Buckinghamshire.
You will manage a targeted and specialist caseload, working collaboratively with other agencies to ensure protection and the best health outcomes for children and families.
As a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse you will work within the community dealing with clients from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of need.
Specialist Community Public Health Nurses in Buckinghamshire deliver an evidence-based service using a wide range of assessment and intervention tools as well as providing excellent support alongside a wider multi-disciplinary 0-19 service.
Car driver and current licence essential.

Qualification and Education
Essential criteria- Registered Nurse Part 1 /RSCN/RMN
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse School Nursing - Cert/Diploma/Degree
- Mentorship in clinical Practice/ENB998 certificate
- Nurse Prescribing Qualification
- Leadership training
Skills, Abilities & knowledge
Essential criteria- Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multidisciplinary team, children, young people and their families.
- Experience of staff management within a skill mix team and delegation of tasks
- Excellent computer skills on a range of software applications.
- Ability to write detailed reports / referrals to ensure interpretation by other members of the multidisciplined team so that the child or young person can access the appropriate care and support.

Special circumstances
Essential criteria- Ability to travel to various community sites on a daily basis.
