About the role
Balfour Beatty are looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Regional Buildings Team in Reading, on the AWE-The Hub project.
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will support the Balfour Beatty AWE – Regional Buildings Project Team to drive health, safety and wellbeing performance, ensuring efficient and effective advice and support to meet and where possible exceed operational requirements.They will support the Head of HS&W /Senior HS&W Advisor to
enable the AWE – Regional Buildings Project Team to achieve Zero Harm objectives.
What you'll be doing- Provide visible, on-site support and HS&W advice to the Project.
- Carry out regular site inspections and targeted inspections to ensure compliance
- Provide active support in promoting and delivering the Zero-Harm agenda.
- Assist in the reporting and investigation of incidents, identification of root causes and lessons learned and share within the supply chain.
- Monitor and assist with mandatory safety training within the Balfour Beatty team
- and the Supply Chain.
- Obtain and analyse required safety statistics to compare performance between all sub-contractors. Hold regular meetings with the Supply Chain safety representatives to discuss performance KPIs, HS&W Trends and lessons-learned from any incidents.
- Provide competent advice in the review of documentation such as RAMS, competencies, and the Construction Phase Plan.
- Produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record planned & unplanned HS&W inspections which review project performance against the UK HSWS Regulatory Framework & UK Business Management System (BMS) requirements.
Who we're looking for
Essential qualifications/experience needed:
- NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent in Health and Safety management.
experience will be considered in other cases.
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience in a health and safety role preferably in Construction/M&E related
- Technical Health and Safety knowledge and extensive knowledge of CDM roles
- An ability to undertake causational analysis of accidents and incidents.
- Ability to work independently and in Department and project teams.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with the delivery of training at all levels of the staff structure.
- Good team working skills.
Desirable:
- CMIOSH
- Level 6 H&S Qualification or Equivalent.
- Experience working on a M&E project.
