For People Operations this means building a strong foundation of people processes and policies to ensure that we are building, maintaining and growing our return on people investment. Our people operations includes creating one source of truth for all people data; delivery of core routine processes such as new starters/leavers/pay review/ performance management; managing employee relations cases; benefits administration; managing change processes such as restructures; keeping people systems up to date; from time to time designing new policies such as building on our suite of family friendly policies; managing employee and manager queries.

In each region there is a People Operations leader who overseas delivery through managing 3 teams: Employee relations, Administration and People Support.

Requirements

The ER team will have responsibility for the following:

  • Subject matter expert in managing ER cases – local legal knowledge and Civica policy
  • Management of all ER cases through to conclusion. A case does not cover every ER issue – some can be resolved before a full case is launched.
  • Day to day management of union relations (where applicable). (Any policy or negotiation to be handled alongside the People Ops leadership)
  • Manage and lead investigations where necessary
  • Monitoring case levels by type
  • Reviewing policy if/when legislation or circumstance determine
  • Work with line managers to upskill as/when opportunity available

Key skills:

  • Has to have previously managed first hand a variety of ER cases
  • Has to have first hand relevant experience of delivering change programs preferably restructuring or redundancy
  • Has to have worked in volume based environments and be able to plan workload accordingly
  • Stays up to date on people strategies, industry/competitor activities and market environments, and employment law
  • Works at pace
