Support Worker / Nights - Waking / Children's complex care (Derby: Coxbench) Fridays and Saturdays
£15.30 to £16.39 per hour
We are looking for a skilled and confident Support Worker to work within a family home providing waking night care to a child with cerebral palsy and complex needs.About you:

About me:
I am a very bright and happy 9 year old boy and I live with my lovely family in my fully adapted home in the Amber Valley.
I enjoy interaction and the challenge of making decisions for myself. I need help with my daily living including personal care, with using my nebulizer at night, with playing and learning and accessing activities, and with daily therapy exercises to help me develop to my greatest potential.
Rate of pay: £15.30 to £16.39About the job:
The role involves working 2 waking nights per week, typically Fridays and Saturdays. 12 hour long shifts between 10.00pm and 10.00 am. You will show reliability, good teamwork and commitment, working on a rota basis with weekdays and weekends.
You will be working as part of a team, and will be given training by specialists and therapists.
Experience of delivering complex care and rehabilitation is required including:
Waking night tasks:
- Ensuring Sleep system is being used correctly, repositioning child throughout the night
- Supporting client to use CPAP and ventilator
- Administer medications
- Measuring and mixing food prep
- Ensuring client receives nutrition via feeding pump throughout the night
- Wiping secretions
- Supporting client to go back to sleep when he wakes during the night
Day tasks:
- Support client to wake up
- Clean CPAP machine and make client comfortable
- Provide nutrition
- Administer medication
- Support client to use nebuliser
- Personal care and dressing
- Completing Physiotherapy program
- Supporting client to get ready for school
- There may be an occasional need for you to drive our client to appointments or school (holiday cover) at the end of the shift (8am till 10am) and so the ability to drive a WAV is essential.
A car driver is essential as it may be necessary to drive the client in his adapted vehicle.
