Health Care Support Worker - Wakefield Sexual Health
Job overview
The post holder will provide support and clinical care to the service users and staff within Wakefield Integrated Sexual Health team under the supervision of a clinician. The post holder will also provide some administrative and clerical support as required.
Experience of SystmOne is advantageous however will training will be provided.
The post holder may be expected to cover some evenings.
Main duties of the job
Support the delivery of clinical care in the Sexual Health Service. The role will include chaperoning, obtaining samples and assisting medical and nursing staff in the provision of contraception and the management of sexually transmitted infections.
Maintain stock levels and stock control within the unit.
This post includes working across a range of services.
The post will include some evening work.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- NVQ Level 2 in care or equivalent in a health-related course
- EGCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
- CDL/Elite
- Typing RSA 1
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Understanding confidentiality
- Understanding of basic Sexual health issues.
- In depth knowledge of the range of contraception and sexually transmitted infections
Experience
Essential criteria- Previous experience of working in a health care setting dealing with confidential and sensitive matters
- Confident and able to communicate with a range of people
- Can demonstrate they are able to work in an organised and methodical way, multitasking as necessary
- Computer literate, and confident in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes and electronic patient records/effective typist.
- Previous experience communicating with the general public face to face or via telephone
- Phlebotomy
- Stock control and ordering of supplies.
