Construction Delivery Manager

Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. Fully site based role.

Do you take pride in delivering high quality work? Are you a proactive problem solver who thrives on tackling challenges head-on? Can you communicate clearly and effectively to keep contractors and stakeholders aligned?

If so, we want to hear from you!

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are constructing two new nuclear reactors, marking the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Once operational, these reactors will provide low-carbon electricity to power around six million homes.

We are looking for a Construction Delivery Manager to support activities in the field relating to the construction of a designated section of the works for our Turbine Hall, and its on-site facilitation.

This role covers all construction activities, reporting to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager. It includes planning and managing logistics with the site-wide logistics team, overseeing schedules, ensuring compliance with authority requirements, and liaising with the client.

Your role will include day to day on site supervision and direction of the works to safely and efficiently deliver the HPC project.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary from £52,000 (negotiable depending on experience), and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort.

No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed.

That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

In your role, you'll support contract partners to ensure efficient delivery of their work packages. This includes recommending temporary measures to address safety and quality concerns, following up with actions like issuing communications or calling meetings, and reviewing documents and conducting assurance audits.

You’ll monitor on-site activities and record your observations in a daily site log, escalating any concerns to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager through detailed reports.

You'll maintain clear communication with site functions—such as Health & Safety, quality, surveillance, commercial, project controls, and logistics—and other Construction Delivery Managers, ensuring activities are well-coordinated and reported.

This involves attending pre-start briefings and conveying key messages to contractors.

You’ll also organise and lead meetings with contractors, recording outcomes and sharing them with the Senior Construction Delivery Manager. Additionally, you’ll perform safety and assurance inspections to support project Health, Safety, and Performance Indicators (HSPI).

Clear, two-way communication with the Senior Construction Delivery Manager is crucial to ensure activities and issues are properly managed.

Who you are

You should be educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.

You have a strong background in project delivery, including construction sequencing, recovery planning, and resource management. You have a good understanding of obligations under CDM Regulations, and you're skilled at writing clear and informative reports.

You know how to motivate contract partners by fostering a climate of trust and actively considering diverse perspectives.

You are results-focused, using initiative to take responsibility for delivering quality and value, even when under pressure. Managing multiple stakeholders comes naturally to you, and you handle complex situations with ease.

Experience in a high-security environment is a plus, and while nuclear experience is beneficial, substantial work on large Civil Engineering, Building, or MEH projects is also highly valued.

Closing date for applications: 10th November 2024
