SEND Teaching Assistant
Hours of work: 8.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 38 weeks per year 8.40am- 11.00 am (working hours can be negotiated)Contract: Temporary linked to external funding
Grade J or K: £23,690- 25,603 pa pro rata depending on experience
We are seeking a caring, patient and committed person to join our friendly team at Lydiard Millicent Primary School. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher and SENDCO to support a child with additional needs and an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) in place.Support is required both in the classroom and at play/lunchtimes. Some intimate care support may be required. Good communication skills and the ability to use positive behaviour management strategies are essential. An understanding of autism and intensive interaction is desirable but not essential.
You will need to be able to plan, deliver and monitor learning to meet the needs of the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan, as well as adapting materials to support the child’s learning and development.
The following attributes are necessary:- A variety of communication skills to respond to the needs of the child
- Ability to build a positive working relationship with parents
- Empathy and understanding of children's individual learning abilities
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with children with special educational needs
- Patience
- Willingness to liaise and work with outside agencies such as Speech and Language therapist
- Flexibility.

Breakfast Club AssistantHours of work: 6.67 weeks per week, Monday to Friday 38 weeks per year 7.15 am - 8.35 am
Contract: Permanent
Grade J: £23,690pa pro rata
We wish to appoint a breakfast club assistant to work in our popular and busy breakfast club. This post is for 6.67 hours per week, in term time. The successful candidate will be flexible and confident working with children across the primary age range to ensure that children have safe, happy and healthy breakfast club and start to their school day.
Experience of working in a primary school is desirable. Applicants must be well organised, positive, enthusiastic and able to build good relationships with pupils. Excellent communication skills along with the ability to use initiative and work independently are crucial.Confidence in liaising with a range of professionals in school is necessary.
