ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To provide expert resuscitation practice development Trust wide and the implementation of practice development initiatives across all services. Be instrumental in the development of evidence based resuscitation practice by measuring the outcome and effectiveness of the resuscitation initiatives and sharing these findings with the local and wider networks.
To lead on specific projects related to resuscitation care within the services as directed by lead resuscitation officer. To work directly with multi-professional care teams, offering expert advice and clinical consultancy for resuscitation practice.
As a senior resuscitation officer, lead on the development and maintenance of inter-professional relationships and networks both within the Trust and national networks which influence and develop current systems of care delivery in resuscitation.
With direction from lead resuscitation officer, and working alongside Learning & Development and alongside fellow senior nurses, implement delivery of education, training and development of nurses and other professionals across the Trust Act as a student mentor as appropriate within the resuscitation service.
To lead on the education and skills development of practitioners working within the services, designing and implementing learning and development programmes. Committed to working with patients and carers, providing expert patient physical assessment, intervention, advice, subject to an agreed work plan.
To act as a role model demonstrating an expert level of professional skill, knowledge and competency, which is underpinned by theory gained by an advanced level of specialist training To work directly with multi-professional teams to assist in the management of risk, facilitation of complex case reviews and the immediate crisis management in relation to resuscitation issues.
Provide expert nursing care opinion and advice within other areas of the Trust. With support from Resuscitation Service Lead develop interventions in resuscitation and lead the process to ensure appropriate changes take place to enhance patient care ensuring sound governance.
Provide expert clinical supervision and mentoring for staff working within resuscitation practice through formal clinical supervision, supervised clinical practice, case conferences and skills modelling. As delegated by Resuscitation service lead, manage maintenance standards, guidelines and protocols for resuscitation, promote, and implement specific projects relating to these across the Trust.
To establish and develop proactive and positive relationships with professional leads across all care groups and clinical teams. Use the clinical governance framework and resources to guide practice. To assess, monitor and report clinical risk and lead the development strategies to manage these.
Participate in supervision and reflection of own clinical practice PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP Provide expert clinical leadership and support in all matters relating to resuscitation practice. Provide expert guidance to other resuscitation officers in the coordination and management of audit, training and resuscitation practice.
Contribute to local, regional and national policy developments. Working with fellow senior colleagues and the resuscitation officers, lead in the demonstrable measurement of clinical efficacy as required by the local and national standards in resuscitation practice.

WORKFORCE AND HUMAN RESOURCES Be responsible for the line management of the Trust resuscitation officers. Work with HR and Resuscitation service lead to ensure that recruitment campaigns for staff are planned and implemented to enable appropriate numbers of staff to be in post at all times With support from resuscitation service lead ensure that all aspects of HR, including recruitment, retention, and performance issues are managed in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.

Ensure that the e-roster is authorised and managed within the agreed limits with a clear management and monitoring process of all temporary staffing. Undertake appraisal and job planning as required, setting targets and monitoring performance within the resuscitation service.
Take action to ensure that teams make best use of continuing development opportunities that are in line with the business objectives and service needs. Communicate effectively with staff and ensure a communication system that provides dynamic feedback.
Deal with matters arising under the Trust performance policies, including capability, Grievance, Disputes or Disciplinary Procedures in the manner specified by those procedures. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT To implement and measure the effectiveness of resuscitation training programmes for adult, child and new-born resuscitation.
With fellow senior clinicians, work to develop educational programmes (which may include securing funding) to meet the dynamic needs of the Trust Working with resuscitation officers and clinicians design and deliver training programmes to meet local Core training requirements ensuring adequate capacity and the standards of education delivery.

To collaborate with Learning and Development, clinical teams and education providers for the development and delivery of in-house programmes PRACTICE AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT, RESEARCH AND EVALUATION. Lead on specific audits and research of resuscitation practice and education, to meet Trust and national reporting requirements As a senior resuscitation officer, actively participate in the audit and research of evidence-based practice and use findings to improve the quality of care.

Teach resuscitation interventions to large groups of staff from various professionals and levels of development Undertake and research studies, publishing and presenting the results locally and nationally. Support and supervise other colleagues in the implementation of audits.
Act as a resource and facilitator for dissemination on expert practice. MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES With support from resuscitation service lead create and present audit reports on a regular basis to Trust Resuscitation Group and relevant key stakeholders.

To manage the resuscitation officers employed at the Trust and ensure they have a clear work plan and that they are supporting the Trust values and objectives Support the Resuscitation Group, by setting the standards for the management and governance of resuscitation services Line management of junior resuscitation officers and support administrative staff PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RESPONSIBILITES Obtain appropriate supervision monthly and peer support for clinical practice.

To fully participate in the Trusts performance review and personal development planning process on an annual basis. Adhere to Nursing and Midwifery Code/ HCPC code, the scope of professional practice and other associated guidance. Undertake training, attend conferences and study days in line with the development of the post, and as agreed with line manager.
Maintain an individual professional portfolio of practice, ensuring at least 20% of workload remains directly related to clinical care and practice development. To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficacy of the teams in which he/she works.
To undertake any other duties at the request of the Resuscitation Service Lead which are commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover. To undertake mandatory and statutory training as required by Trust policy.

To contribute and commit to undertaking an annual Development Review/appraisal. To undertake personal development as identified in the Personal Development Plan (PDP).
