Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Higher) ST3-5/ST6+ in General Surgery (Colorectal) based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is available from 01 November 2024 until 04 February 2025.

The successful post holder will undertake duties as required by the demands of the Colorectal Unit service, and these duties will include clinical work, emergency and elective surgery within the colorectal firm, ward work, outpatient clinics and other duties as required by consultants.

In order to be considered applicants must meet the following essential criteria: Completion of a Core Surgical Programme for Specialty Training or equivalent previous experience in Colorectal Surgery and be able to deal with general emergency and trauma admissions .

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

The work will be shared by five other senior colorectal trainees and the post holder. The post holder will be expected to carry out some degree of clinical work independently and one clinical fellow will participate in the middle grade general surgery on-call rota.
